whats the usual reason for wsod during avada update

hi there
just wondering what’s the most common way to fix an wsod (white screen of death) issue which was clearly caused by closing a browser window during an avada update in the wordpress admin gui?
i can delete the theme folder via ftp and the standard theme works fine. As soon as I try to copy an avada theme folder (freshly downloaded, or an older version) back to the themes folder via ftp, the wsod is happening again.
any hints?

thanks for your input. i’ve been thru this page many times before, but this time i couldn’t really find one of the usual suspects (wrong permission).
and since the error most likely has been caused by the unforeseen closing of the browser window during theme update procedure, i’ve thought, there might be another “usual” thing that goes wrong in such a case. i’m aware, that there might be hundreds – or even more – reasons which could have caused this, but who knows, maybe someone’s found an easy shortcut 😉
in the meantime i’ve already used the backup to come back online.
