Menu Search Icon Other link

I have a full screen search plugin that only works when you click inside of a search box. Since the search icon opens a search box with the cursor already active, a user would need to click inside the search box again or press enter, which is a bit problematic.

Is there any way I can either put in a script that runs the plugin or change the link so that it runs the plugin?
