Hi all,
Was doing some spring cleaning today, and noticed an issue with a Google Map API setting. Long story short, Google (from 16th July) is going to start CHARGING to access Map API.Google is currently offering $200 / $300 (depending on what link you click) “free monthly credit” for a year – or until you use up the credit. After that, it doesn’t say – nor does Google give pricing breakdown (from the broken site I’ve had the misfortune of using below).

Can Avada PLEASE have the ability to use other maps other than Google? “Open Street Map” comes to mind.
What do you think about this / the change?
They actually don´t… Use your google console APIs https://console.developers.google.com/apis/
What do you mean by “Use your google console APIs”? I’m still getting the map watermarked “For development purposes only”, also an error message pops up saying that “This page can’t load Google Maps correctly”. I search google support page and it says that a billing has to be enabled with a valid credid card to solve it.
Avada seriously needs an alternative for google maps.
milo88, exactly same issue here 🙁 Please post back if you are able to fix it!
In the error console I see-
“You have exceeded your request quota for this API. See https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages?utm_source=maps_js&utm_medium=degraded&utm_campaign=billing#api-key-and-billing-errors”
Note there have been hardly any requests for that webpage or map lol
Other websites that are setup EXACTLY SAME and more popular are working fine. CONFUSED
n_n, I’ve noticed that without billing method set up for the project containing your API key in google console tools, it limits map views to 1 per day… after you exceed it it will start watermarking your map.
What I did was to switch to alternative solution by registering with mapbox and using their API to set up a map on my page through Code Block in Fusion Builder.Found a nice tutorial here:
https://theme-fusion.com/forums/topic/implement-google-maps-alternative/Thanks milo88 for that work around – I just found the same issue in an avada maps block, though might just remove the map altogether if it is a problematic feature – too many random issues to trouble shoot with such a bloated theme really, but I’ll see 😉
