Hi – I’m making some major changes to one of my Avada websites. I’ve cloned the current live site into a sub folder (dev) and we are not far off deleting the site at the root and replacing it with this.
I’ve now converted the dev site so it’s using the Avada child theme – it’s all working well, but I want to update to the latest version of Avada and would like to test this all works on the dev site before I push it live.
I updated Avada on the live (root) site, but am getting the above message when I try to update it on the dev site. I’m assuming it’s because I’m updating it twice under the same licence number.
Is there anyway around this? Plus, if there’s not, will I be able to update Avada once I put the dev site into the root?

To clarify, updates and the number of updates is not tied to your licensing, you can update as often as you need to for life.
As for that error, please try the update again as the updates server might just have been too busy at that time or alternatively update manually via FTP. These are our detailed update instructions:
Updating from an old version of Avada? -> http://bit.ly/2AHpT3k

Something else that is important is to also ensure any patches that our team releases between update cycles are applied as part of ongoing maintenance for your install and always clear your cache plugins post update
Patches are applied at the click of a button as explained in this help file -> http://bit.ly/1NAWVwM

Thanks for the reply. Good to know I can update Avada on this development site (and elsewhere as I often have copies of sites on my home server as well) – will give it another go later.
All my Avada sites are up to date with patches etc, so that won’t be a problem.

I have moved my site to a new domain name and the old site has gone, but when I try to update it says:
Avada Update failed: Download failed. Unknown error encountered. Please try again later.
