Is this at all possible? I love the highlighting of menu items as their anchor reference hits the top of the viewport, but I have an extra button that serves as a telephone link for the benefit of mobile devices and constant visibility for desktops. Because it doesn’t actually have a content section to anchor to, however, it never gets highlighted. The solution I believe is to create an empty container at the top of the page that uses a relevant anchor. I don’t know how to use both a “tel:” reference and an anchor link in that URL field.

I tried to use an snippet but it actually split the one menu item into two separate buttons, and neither of them highlighted properly.

Im not sure if I understand you question exactly, but I have used both the tel:// and sms:// with no problems. The buttons work and highlight on hover as expected.

If you’d like to see what i mean, i’ve used both of the above buttons at https://affordablesydneyremovals.com.au

the SMS button near top of page and the TEL button near bottom of page when using a hand held (small screen) device. Is that whatyou need?

No sorry. In a single page layout design using anchors shortlinks (#link), the menu options on a sidebar style menu automatically highlight as the user scrolls past the relevant anchor.

I wanted the first menu item to display the telephone number and function as a “tel:” link. That alone works fine, and the button hovers on mouseover as expected.

What I cannot figure out is how to add an anchor shortlink AND “tel:” in the same URL menu field. The intended goal here is that the phone number is highlighted when the user is at the top of the page, and then the highlighting moves down the remaining buttons as the user scrolls down. Right now the phone button gets skipped unless I remove the “tel:” and add the shortlink. Then it highlights properly but obviously is no longer a valid phone link.
