Going by what you are describing it is likely that your theme has not been updated for some time. Check what version of the theme you are running, the latest version right now is Avada 5.6.2

This error -> Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘addClass’ of undefined” – would relate to WordPress that was updated to the latest version but the theme has not been updated. If you need to update be sure to follow these update instructions:
