I have mentioned this elsewhere in community forums as well. Rule of thumb and one of the reasons why we provide comprehensive and detailed update instructions, is for it to ensure updates are seamless. After you had updated, did you purge your caches? Are you running a child theme with modified files? Are there any 3rd party plugin conflicts? Check them if you are. The theme update process does not and cannot in itself, alter the theme settings.

I am going to re-post the theme update instructions here, be sure to go through them. As good practice and with the intention of keeping your site maintained, when a 3rd party plugin update is due, apply it. When a WordPress update is due, apply the update. When a theme update is due, apply the theme update. Do not wait 3/6/12/18 months before updating your assets. This is imperative.

Something else that is important is to also ensure any patches that our team releases between update cycles are applied as part of ongoing maintenance for your install and always clear your cache plugins post update
