If you have active support then yes opening a ticket is best. However, you will still need more specific information from your host about consumption and what are the major problem points. Having so many posts is always going to lead to a large database and then slower interaction. Without more information it is impossible to say possible ways to reduce that. If you have dynamic CSS set to database, that will increase the database substantially.
