Blog Single Post Page

Every blog post you create has has it's own single post page. The single post page displays the entire blog post, featured images, author details, comments, etc. In this article, we'll be outline all the relevant sections in a single post page and how you can configure the post page using the global Theme Options, Fusion Options and use the Fusion builder to create dynamic post content. If you'd like to display an archive of your blog posts on one page, you can use the Blog Element or the Recent Posts Element. Here is a demo of our Blog Single Post page.

Uploading Featured Images

  • Featured Image Box - For each post you create you can upload one or more featured images (the default is 5). Avada provides Featured Image Boxes on the right side of the post editing page and this is where you upload your Featured Image/s. You can only upload one image per 'Set Featured Image' option. View screenshot here.
  • Featured Image Slideshow - If you upload more than one featured image Avada generates a featured image slideshow on the single post page. View an example here.
  • Number Of Featured Images Per Post - By default you can upload 5 featured images per post, however that can be changed globally by going to Theme Options > Slideshows > Post Slideshow Images and increasing/decreasing the number (min. 1 - max. 30).

Featured Image Dimensions

The Featured Image you upload to each post will show the full image ratio on the single post page by default. The width of the featured image will be set to the site width, or column width if using sidebars, and the height is set to auto so it displays the original height. In addition to this, you can set a custom featured image width and height to control the size of the image, using the in-post Fusion Options. The Custom featured image sizes works for single post page and the main blog page, which excludes the 'Grid' and 'Timeline' layouts.

The 'Featured Image Dimensions' option (Image width and height) is located in the Fusion Page Options > Posts section of the posts page. Values are set in pixels or percentage, ex: 100% or 100px. Or Use "auto" for automatic resizing if you added either width or height.

Featured Videos

You can upload a Youtube or a Vimeo video to be displayed in the featured image section of the post. You can also have a combination of videos and images, displayed as a slideshow on the single post page. Read below to learn how to upload a Youtube or a Vimeo video.

How To Upload A Youtube/Vimeo Video

Step 2 - Give your blog post a title and add your content as normal.

Step 3 - In the Fusion Page Options, select the 'Post' tab and then locate the 'Video Embed Code' option.

Step 4 - Enter the Youtube or Vimeo embed code into the provided field. You can find the embed code by clicking the 'Embed' option on Youtube, and the 'Share' option on Vimeo.

Step 5 - Click 'Save Draft' or 'Publish'.

Post Meta Information

There are various post meta information that you can add to each post you create. Namely tags, categories and post formats. The Post Format icons will only display if you're using the 'Large' or 'Medium Alternate' blog layouts.

  • Categories - Categories are pre-defined taxonomies used to sort content into different sections. This makes it easier for the user to filter relevant Blog posts they'd like to view. On the right side of the page you'll see the 'Categories' box. Here you can assign multiple unique categories to the post. For example, WordPress, Photoshop, and the like. Categories can be clicked by the user to view all posts assigned to that particular category. You can also access and edit Categories from the Posts > Categories tab on your WP admin sidebar.
  • Tags - This is meta information you create to help further define your Blog posts. Underneath the 'Categories' box you'll see the 'Tags' box. Here you can add tags to the post. For example, Photography, or Design. Each tag is a meta link that your viewer can click to view posts with the same tags. You can also access and edit Tags from the Posts > Tags tab on your WordPress admin sidebar.
  • Blog Post Formats - This helps display the type of post you've created. For example, if its an Image post, Video post or Slideshows post. Blog Post Format information will only display when using the 'Large' or 'Medium Alternate' blog layouts on the Blog element. Those layouts allow for a post icon format to display with the post. For more information, please see the Blog Post Format article.

Fusion Post Options

Avada provides a host of options that you can use to configure a single post, located below WordPress Content Editor. Navigate to the Fusion Page Options > Posts. All options set within an individual Blog post will override the corresponding Theme Options global option that has been set.
