Plugin Installation

07/10/2017
IMPORTANT NOTE – The Fusion Builder plugin is only available in Avada version 5.0 or higher.

Avada requires two essential plugins to operate. These plugins are the Fusion Core plugin and the Fusion Builder plugin. Aside from these two, Avada also comes with two premium plugins; the Revolution Slider, and the Layer Slider. We also recommend several plugins that we use for various demos that only need to be installed prior to importing a demo which uses one or more of these plugins. All these plugins can be accessed via Avada > Plugins.

Avada’s Required, Included & Recommended Plugins

It’s important to note the differences between Avada’s required, included and recommended plugins. Required plugins, like the Fusion Core and Fusion Builder, are very important and must be installed and activated at all times for Avada to work properly. Avada’s included plugins are Premium Plugins that are bundled with the theme purchase and do not require additional licensing in order to use them with Avada. Before you can install the included plugins, you first have to register your purchase. Lastly, there’s Avada’s recommended plugins which are plugins that we use in our demos and are fully integrated with Avada. You can choose not to install these plugins if you’re not going to use them.

Avada’s Required Plugins

These plugins must be installed and activated in order to utilize Avada’s functionality.

  • Fusion Core – This plugin is Avada’s companion plugin.
  • Fusion Builder – This plugin powers the new Fusion Builder.
Avada’s Included Plugins

These plugins are premium plugins that are bundled with Avada and do not require additional licensing in order to use with Avada.

  • Revolution Slider – This is a premium slider plugin developed by ThemePunch.
  • Layer Slider – This is a premium slider plugin developed by Kreatura.
Avada’s Recommended Plugins

These plugins are used in various demos and are fully design integrated with Avada. Installing and activating any of these plugins is optional. Please Note: It is recommended that you first install and activate the plugin used in the demo you choose to import before starting the import. That will ensure the demo content for that plugin is imported. More info on importing demos can be found here.

  • WooCommerce Plugin – This plugin is free. If creating an online shop, we recommend using WooCommerce. This plugin is design integrated with Avada, see it in action here.
  • bbPress Plugin – This plugin is free. If creating a forum, we recommend using bbPress. This plugin is design integrated with Avada, see it in action here.
  • Contact Form 7 – This plugin is free. If needing to use forms on various pages, we recommend using Contact Form 7. This plugin is design integrated with Avada. We use these forms in various areas of our demos. You can see it in action by clicking the “Get In Touch” button in the footer of this demo.
  • The Events Calendar Plugin – This plugin is free but also has a Pro version. If creating a site that showcases events, we recommend using The Events Calendar plugin.

Troubleshooting

1.) Why Can’t I Install The Included Premium Plugins?

If the ‘Install’ button on the included Premium plugins (Revolution Slider and Layer Slider) is grayed out, this is because you have to register your purchase via Token Registration first. Once you’ve registered your purchase successfully, you’ll be able to install and activate these plugins.

2.) When I Activate The Plugins The Site Crashes

This may be due to your server’s PHP configuration limits and will require that these configurations limits be increased. For most, these limits can be increased without having to contact your hosting provider. However, in rare cases some hosts can restrict manual intervention and that will require you to contact your hosting provider to increase the limits for you. Here is a detailed help file explaining how to update the PHP configuration limits.

3.) How Do I Update The Premium Sliders?

Avada does include updates for our premium slider plugins (Revolution Slider and Layer Slider) however, this does not mean that you will receive an individual license for these Premium Sliders. Due to Envato’s licensing rules, we can only issue updates for these plugins when we issue a theme update. This also ensures that we fully test the plugin to make sure there are no critical bugs that will conflict with our own update.

4.) Contact Your Hosting Provider First

If you’re experiencing issues with Token Registration and are certain that you followed the new Token Registration process fully, please contact your hosting provider and have them check to see if they are blocking our server. (These URL’s must not be blocked :: api.envato.com | https://theme-fusion.com | https://updates.theme-fusion.com) If your hosting provider confirms that they are not blocking our service, please submit a support ticket to our team so that we can investigate this further.

5.) Fallback Method for Plugins

If Token Registration continues to fail and you can’t install the premium plugins, an alternative is to go to your Support Desk, then switch to the Product Registration tab. In the provided field, enter your Personal Token Key and click ‘Submit Code’. You’ll see a success notification and buttons to download the Revolution Slider, Layer Slider, Fusion Builder and Fusion Core plugins.

6.) Fallback Method For Demos

For an alternative method to download and install the Avada Demos, please see our Alternate Demo Import Method help file.
